Treron

Sometimes the best design decisions come from a place of impulse. Last weekend I found myself in one of those moments, standing in my sunroom, with the sudden desire to transform the space with a color I’ve been swooning over for months, Treron by Farrow & Ball.

Up until that point, my sunroom had been painted in Simply White by Benjamin Moore. The soft white had served its purpose well, allowing the natural light to flood the room, giving it a bright and airy feel. But as much as I loved the simplicity, I couldn’t shake the feeling that the space lacked a certain warmth and character. I wanted the sunroom to be more than just a bright corner of my home; I wanted it to be a cozy, inviting space where I could curl up and enjoy a quiet cup of tea.

Treron is a muted, gayish green which has a depth that draws you in, making it the perfect hue for creating a cozy atmosphere without sacrificing elegance. It reminds me of the timeless muted colors you often see in historic New England homes.

As much as I adore a good impulse project, there’s always that moment when you start questioning yourself. For me, it happened when I was prepping the windows. Those beautiful but seemingly endless windows. There were many moments when I found myself staring at the rolls of painter’s tape, wondering if I’d made a mistake, but as soon as the first coat started to dry, I knew I’d made the right decision. The room began to take on a new personality, one that felt both timeless and fresh. It brought out the warmth in the wood floors and made the greenery outside the windows feel even more connected to the space. It added a layer of coziness that white just simply couldn’t provide.

Now, when I walk into my sunroom, I’m greeted by a space that feels like a true retreat. It’s become a room that invites you to slow down and sit for a little while. There’s now so much character in this space, it’s hard to believe that it was ever anything but this inviting shade of green!

Although the furniture is still waiting to be moved back in and the protective paper remains on the floor, I can already feel the transformation. Even in its unfinished state, the sunroom now projects the warmth and character I envisioned. Treron has truly brought this space to life, and I can’t wait to see it fully come together. Sometimes, a little spontaneity is all it takes to create something truly special.
