The transition from winter to spring and summer to fall are my two favorite times of the year. Not just for the change in weather, but for the wardrobe updates too. The shift from spring to summer and fall to winter isn’t as dramatic, but when it’s time to incorporate new colors and textures, it becomes much more exciting.
Moving from a warm season to a cooler one can be challenging. With temperatures staying high well into autumn, it’s essential to stay cool while looking season appropriate. Here’s my strategy:
Fabrics
Linen is perfect for transitioning if chosen wisely. Go for autumn shades and prints, like checks, to stay comfortable and stylish.
Textures
Earthy textures like linen and woven materials work well in both summer and fall. Introduce suede through accessories like purses and belts for an easy autumn touch. Winter fabrics like satin, especially in slip midi skirts, also transition beautifully.
Colors
Transition to rich browns, muted olives, and autumnal hues. Avoid blues, bright colors, and summery stripes. This way, you’ll stay cool while embracing the fall vibe.
Silhouettes
Fitted silhouettes are ideal as they can be layered easily, adapting to the fluctuating temperatures throughout the day.
Shades of White
Shift from bright white to ecru to keep a fresh look while aligning with a more muted fall palette.
